As long as it isn't over 9ft wide I am sure Tony Anderson tonytugboats will shift it with one of his trailers and rather good 4x4 wagons. Unless it is a very unusual Boat a trailer is the answer.

It's a nice enough journey by water and of course that's what boats are for!

The third option, if you're short on time, is to have a commercial boat mover do the journey by water for you. It'll be cheaper than the crane option, possibly more than a trailer move.

Of ones I've met, Connor 'C W Boatmover' and Jon Pegg are both very competent.

Newark don't 'crane' they have their own hoist.

When we hire a crane in for the day it is typically £1500.

If you are getting a crane to come in specifically (and only) for your boat £400 is a very good price.

Calcutt have a crane and a cradle and a slipway

That is wicked !

Maybe a bit awkward for a trailer but I would still ask Tony tug boats about it.

Cool Boat !!

Odd question but what is it made of?

It looks a bit like the polypropylene narrow Boat discussed a while ago.

Is this made of plastic or metal?

Looks great.

Unusual to have an inboard in this sort of Boat as it takes up a lot of space. Springer Waterbug which was a broadly similar Boat had an outboard motor.

OMG

If one is thinking of Boat cranes maybe the story is that this little Boat gets craned onto another Boat much bigger for safety and launched when needed.

Like a ship's tender.

Being critical the stern swim and flow of water to the propeller is questionable.

Does it have water ballast like the Sea Otter aluminium craft?

They were built to compete with the springer water bug, they are quite a dense fibreglass, but do look like steel which the downside to that is people think it's ok to prang into it in their steel boats, it has a 12 hp vetus inboard.

No it doesn't have water ballast.

Why don't you ask Tony Tugboat - I'm guessing he will know the best place / price for unloading

I have emailed him 😀

I don't believe their slipway is used for putting boats in to the canal.

Not even after slipping them out

Might have trouble with road access to Ivy Bridge marine in Braunston

That just reminded me, Bottom Lock at Braunston have a slip way they pull narrowboats out for blacking. They may be able to help. Braunston Marina crains in fat boats as well as narrowboat so can't see access being a problem

No.  They slip the boats out to work on them then put them back in.  The lane to their facilities is very narrow, twisty and in places steep and there are two cattle grids then a very tight turn.

A lot of this business seems to have moved to Dunchurch Pools.  Braunston Marina don't have an onsite crane just a craning pad.

Yes that’s the place I mentioned too. It’s possible with an 2 -3 ton trailer I would be pretty sure. Though dark the trees aren’t overhanging too low.  Access via Dark Lane is the way to the Admiral Nelson pub. The last bit over two cattlegrids are heavily used with hefty kit regularly coming over the cattlegrids. It’s where cars from Union canal hirers park too. I would think anyone with trailer skills could negotiate it quite comfortably?

Of course we don’t know if the owner can put another boat in down that slipway once one being blacked has gone in on the trolley. One can but ask. The owner seems a decent guy who could be flexible and may enjoy any challenge.

I don’t know if Dunchurch have a slipway. As mentioned any of these places to launch a boat from a crane will be significantly more costly I would think.

It’s a lovely boat looks flat bottomed. Tony tugboat will probably know the best spot to launch.

True, I forgot them as well.

Funnily enough one of these little narrow Boats passed me earlier near Shepperton. Lovely little article, inboard twin with a pop-pop sound I did ask and yes it was fibreglass.

Not noticed them before. Nice article.

Debdale wharf have a great boatlift, then a nice cruise down to Braunston on what is the most delightful part of the canal system.

Alternatively if moving on a trailer perhaps the boat slipway at North Kilworth Wharf would be a possibility.

if its on a trailer then I can't see why you couldnt use Calcutts slipway

I think Napton Narrowboats have a slipway. A possible Hiab at Hawkesbury junction, cart land, Rose Narrowboats, All Oaks where they dropped the boats in to clear the land slip
