We seem to have an ever growing cohort of van owners on the forum now, so I thought I would start a topic for folks to show off their vans whether they be campervans, self builds or coachbuilts and caravans.

Here is ours to get things started.

Milo is a December 2018 registered Benimar Mileo 202 based on the Fiat Ducato chassis with the 2.3 150hp Multijet engine.

Currently on 25800 miles. 6m length. Plated at 3500kg.

Marketed as a 4 berth but it is really a 2 berth with occasional lounge seating conversion available if required. Has seating for 8 adults around the lounge table, large drop down bed above the lounge, decent sized galley for the size of van with 200 litre fridge/freezer, oven. grill 2 gas hobs and 1 electric hob, decent shower room with separate shower cubicle and a plenty of storage scattered around the van.

4 belted seats. The seat belts are hidden behind the front facing rear seats with the head rests.

I can add caravans if you like?

I do find it strange that some vans are 4 berth but then only have 2 seat belts

Standard Benimar duck board. Comes with the van when new.

There are a few companies online who make them if you can get a size.

This is Fiona, very new to us, purchased last weekend. She's a 2004 Fiat Ducato, been very well looked after and we're pleased as punch.

No interior photos yet, I'll add them later.

Off on our first weekend away this coming weekend, just an hour up the road but gives us a chance to try her out.

👍 As we now have a life we will not be doing many weekends away although we will do the odd one. Mid week is way better. First trip is tomorrow with four mates in their two vans. The campsite is fabulous, located next to the river and takes us about ninety seconds to get to, it's 300 yards away 😂

We were never more than 5 miles from home last weekend but we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. 😀

Not managed a stay quite so close to home as yours though 🤣🤣🤣

Think Clumber Park was the closest we have managed to stay to home at New Year's.

Not seen that for a long time- pretty much all recent non DIY motorcaravans have the same or more belted seats as berths.

Having said that, are rear seat belts compulsory in a motorcaravan? If they are it’s a recent change in the law.

Elddis 482 at Wigrams. Called a "land boat" by some friends.

The furthest we have taken it is Wick, Caithness, where my mum came from.

Mine is a self-build - Nissan NV400 (Renault Master) - with all mod-cons. Used in pub-stops and car-parks, sometimes camp-sites, and as much for having my own accommodation when staying with friends around the country.

Built in 2018, so doing quite well. I do have the urge to do another though... I think I am the same with boats, I enjoy fiddling as much as actually using. If I'm out on a boat, I would just as happily be on someone else's so that they have to do the worrying (c:

So who should a complete beginner (motorhome) rent from for a trial 1 week holiday?

I would rent in the area you want to tour. Make sure the layout is what suits you. For instance the double bed on my lat van was only six feet by four feet. My van just purchased has a double that is six feet three by six feet and lots of floor space for the dog. Everyone has different preferences much like boats.

Wherever has a van with the layout that you think suits you.

Also useful if you have a motorhome/camper van sales centre near by is to go and have a look first hand at lots of different vans and layouts before you commit to hiring something. It will give you an idea of what living space each model has and what suits you or doesn't suit you.

Rent from as close to home as possible, just makes everything logistically much easier if you can nip home to pack.

I had a couple of weeks there many years ago, didn't know that it's a dogging spot driving there!
