Kev1744 Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 Hi all, I'm in the early stages of looking at buying a narrowboat as a sort of holiday home for myself. With this in mind I was looking at hiring a boat for a couple of weeks to see how I liked it.... But I'm struggling to find anywhere that will hire to a single occupant. Any one know if it's possible?
magpie patrick Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 The day boats from the Ashby Boat Company can be hired by one person for multiple days to make a short break https://ashbyboats.com/boats/day-boats/
Kev1744 Posted May 10, 2024 Author Report Posted May 10, 2024 That's awesome and close to me as well! I'm sure when I contacted them they said it wasn't possible.. I'll give them a call. Thank you
Brycgian Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 Cheshire Cat boats also have at least one boat they hire to singletons: https://cheshirecatnarrowboats.co.uk/cheshire-cat-boats/
n-baj Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 Canal cruising at stone also hire out to singles 😃
blackrose Posted May 10, 2024 Report Posted May 10, 2024 Or you could just hire one with a mate and once you get to the first lock tell him to p*ss off! 😂 2
WulfNut Posted May 11, 2024 Report Posted May 11, 2024 You could do one of those two day helmsmen courses, you would have to find digs or sleep in the car i would think. You would probably learn more.
