I seem to recall there was a planning application put in to build a marina on the T&M at Wedgwood. Did anything ever come of it?

I could have been a potty idea from Jasper.

Is this the one? Just found the details, it is classed as Wedgewood Marina in Barlaston. Application was orginally made in October 2015 and passed on 30th April 2019 with the provisio that a maximum number of boats be 141 and no permanent moorings for residential purposes. Last document on the palnning permission is dated April 2022, so finer detail is still dragging on.

Planning permission usually expires after 3 years if work on site hasn't begun. So has anything happened on site? Or is the permission now defunct?

According to the planning permission (30th April 2019) 3 years were allowed for the start.

The site was aquired by developers, CB Collier Management Ltd. in 2022 and according to their website they state We have now made a meaningful start on site to activate the consent, including; utility diversions, access improvements and site investigations.

That is the one. If a meaningful start has been made we will have to await the outcome

A meaningful start can either be the actual commencement of the proposed work, that then proceeds in earnest. Or it can be a token activity undertaken with the sole purpose of keeping planning permission alive, without actually intending to do anything more in the near future.

Aug 23 Google Street View shows a fenced off area (part of that marked on planning application) close to former rail station. A sign on the fence makes reference to 'this development'. This area is covered by the Master Plan in the planning documents. Older Google images indicate that part was once some sort of car park.

Will have a closer look when I go that way later on in May.

Forgot to reply to this. As per Google maps the old Wedgewood staff car park is now sealed of with Heras fencing and there appears to be ground samples being undertaken. There is at present no activities on the canal side.
