What else do you expect from plod?  Too busy helping the stop oil lot or kneeling down somewhere….it’s why if you have any issues it’s best to sort yourself.

Actually, that's the one lot of protesters that have seen an inordinate amount of police hours, arrests, jailings, invasions of privacy et al.

Just because the oil companies are in charge, police are told what to do, and they are such an easy to arrest, nice lot of people who really care about the planet and their kids future.

Rant over.

I’d have no issue driving over them. That’s my rant over…thankfully they seem to have gone awfully quiet…guess there is only so many spoilt rich kids around

It is good if the stolen Boat has been found.

another one (story was added morning of 15NOV24)

https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news/24725870.police-search-50-foot-long-canal-boat-stolen-pub/

"

Police are looking for a 50-foot-long canal boat that was stolen from a pub, with officers believing the boat could now be in Berkshire.

The incident occurred between July and October on a private mooring outside of the Red Lion pub in Bletchley as the privately owned 50ft long canal boat was stolen.

The boat, pictured below, is described as a blue and purple colour and has the name ‘Gyrafalcon’ painted on the side over one of the windows.

Thames Valley Police has suggested the boat could now be in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire or Berkshire."

Interesting and rather unusual back end on there especially the tiller arrangement.

Seems a long time after the incident to put it on a news website.

It piqued my interest as they suggest it may be in Berkshire. They seem to think it has left the GU. Could be a police or journo error of course.

I am in Berkshire (Thames) and will keep an eye out but it seems more likely it will be on the GU. The back end of the cabin is not vertical which is unusual for what looks like trad starn. Easy to spot.

Also that is quite a large porthole.

One post on Facebook says it's been seen in Wigan. It could easily have got there in 4 months.

Here's the details of the tracking down of the Warks one, from the Warwickshire Rural Crime Team.  Copied from their Facebook for the benefit of those who don't go there:

On Wednesday 13th November the Rural Crime Team received a report of a stolen 40ft Narrowboat, it had been taken from the Wilmcote area near Stratford upon Avon between the 8th November and the 13th November.
Even with the speed of narrowboats being so low (3 – 9 mph depending on the direction and flow of the water) it became apparent the possible search area could be huge and include many different waterways.
Initially the team used our drone to search inaccessible areas near to Stratford as well as walking the tow paths and checking nearby marinas and boat yards.
It became apparent that “Narrow”ing down the direction of travel and times of possible sightings was the next part of the puzzle, as such we released our FB post appeal. The response we got from the public was nothing short of phenomenal.
The post was seen by over 500k people in less than 24 hours with hundreds of direct messages to the team. Vital information was provided with recent sightings of the boat and possible offenders in Stratford, Bidford on Avon, Tewksbury.
With a confirmed direction of travel and significantly better idea of what days and times it had passed through specific areas of the canal and river network, we made contact with other agencies and businesses to see if the boat had gone through locks, docks and rivers.
After many hours of calls to the Canal and River Trust , Avon Navigation Trust, waterside businesses and River Watch, we managed to establish that the boat had been painted white in an attempt to disguise her and had passed through the lock into the Gloucester Dock area at midday on the 14th of November.
Now only 24 hours behind the boat and the stretch of canal we needed to search getting ever smaller, we had a fantastic response from the National Waterways Museum in Gloucester. After hearing about the theft and that the boat might be in the docks area, staff went out walking the tow paths looking. Amazingly they found the boat and immediately contacted our team.
The team raced to the location (significantly quicker than a barge) and quickly secured the boat. Unfortunately, no offenders were with the boat but we’re confident it won’t be long before we’re having a chat with them face to face.
The short of it is, we could not have found the boat without the incredible response from the people that live and work on or near the waterways, as well as the many other agencies that we are fortunate enough to work with.
We will keep everyone updated on the progress of our investigation

I'm glad thr boat has been found.

I wonder if the owners insurance company will pay for a repaint given the obviously poor state of the paintwork when stolen. They won't usually pay for "betterment" only to restore the item to its condition before the theft.

Maybe if people didn’t feel the need to breed unnecessary offspring then the planet might cope….but when I’ve suggested this there is much handwringing from those that think multiple grandchildren etc is a god given right.

The human race is unnecessary and if it doesn't sort out its behaviour and stop chucking out CO2, the Gaia Principle suggests the Earth as a living organism will find a way to rid itself of the parasites.

And I think I see the Principle beginning to do just this.
