Easter used to be the first big holiday on the canals, hire boats all out, and lots of private boats dusting off the cobwebs, even if just for the long weekend.

So where is everyone?

We have only had one boat pass us this morning, a Kate Boat, other than that, nothing since leaving the mooring after work at 4 yesterday.

Apparently yesterday the Watford flight only saw 7 boats all day.

What a glorious day to have the canals to ourselves.

We have met 5 hire boats on the B&F today

We’ve come from just above Hillmorton this morning to the moorings before Sutton Stop, lots of boats going the other way, couple of Black Prince, couple of Clifton, couple of private, lots of shareboats (BCBM ones built by Eton Mess).

Weather has been glorious. Seen some hares this morning, terrapin the size of a dinner plate, water vole and our first swallow of the year!

Sadly there seems to be no booking a table at the Greyhound :(

We've been moving the boat from Ventnor up to Chester this week.... weather is great one day, soggy the next!  not many boats moving...  have noticed on maybe 40% of the dual locks one of them left not working... :(

60% where both were functioning? That's a pretty good record, well above par for the last few years.

There was a brief flurry of boats around lunchtime on the Leicester arm, we moored in a horrible place with no facilities at all, no hook up, no water point and no pump out.

I dont recommend it at all.

Heaving on the Erewash. Heaving every gate and paddle coz no other boats around.

Delights of basin tonight. KF rat , Mc crap and hoons with silly exhausts.

The people on the way up and the scenery ( in places) excellent.

They let you back in the country??😁

But you have a small(er) boat, should you not be in Rwanda now, not just past IKEA.

Towpath at Great Haywood was well busy this morning.

After we passed each other it was busy with boats all way to Rugeley.
Gate paddle bust at Colwich lock which caused a queue.
Boats moored along the repaired bank at Rugeley too, which was good to see.
Now back at Great Haywood, only one mooring space available. Luckily my favourite/regular spot. 😃

Think I got a sun tan!

Bloody plastic boats hogging the better mooring.  I'll have words with the owner next time I see him.

Take it you didn't go very far for your Easter cruise then ... 😁

Top end of the Shroppie feels like a motorway, even though I'm nowhere near the working boats. Amazing to think it's only about 2 weeks ago I cruised the Tame Valley, Rushall and Wyrley and Essington and saw one other boat moving in about four days...
