This is someone who knew how to do maximum damage to the Trust at a busy time of year.

Zackly.

This is someone who is massively disgruntled with the trust, like what I was all like in Post 4.

And has inside knowledge, to know how important them control boxers are.

By enclosure do you mean the box in the pic?   If that box is inside a locked cabinet theinside locks may be the type of thing used on meter boxes or boilers and they are widely available.

Known as a clitoris key in the power industry (because every C***'s got one). :)

It must be terrible for residents when canals get restored. Who'd want all those plebs in their face? What was once a moderately interesting landscape feature suddenly becomes a public high way.

Water nightmare!

^^^This exactly^^^

Most well off punters buying a house by the canal, or even a lock cottage are totally taken aback to find a load of boats occupied by people like you or me going past. Or worse, stopping.

It will be interesting if we ever hear the outcome of the criminal investigation (I'm assuming someone is investigating this, given the monetary value of damage) but I suspect, whoever did it, have succeeded in their aim and not left a trace; and/or the police are going to give it a thorough ignoring.

50 grand seems a lot if no hardware was taken.

From the read of the societies web site it was multiple locations, not just the one photographed

Unless someone hands over full cctv evidence including vehicle registrations, copies of passports, inside leg measurements & a signed confession then I suspect you are correct.  Even then if they do actually solve something they'll probably get a pay rise....

Apologies if I sound a little cynical.

Even if they get all that it will be dismissed due to lack of evidence.

It's a forum software bug. We all get caught by it once in a while.

We press "Submit Reply" and nothing seems to happen so we press it again (and sometimes again and again and again), but each time we press, it posts our reply and the other forum software 'feature' strings them all together into one multiple post.

Just saw this on the BBC. Very shocking! As someone else said, it must be someone with a very specific grievance against the W&A trust. Be surprised if it was just a disgruntled landowner, they'll more than likely be 6 feet under by the time boats ever get to navigate the canal so why bother draining it now🙈

Some really knew what to do, to wreak total havoc. The some person in the trust must have an idea who did this, its someone who really understood what they were doing, they drained all the pounds, and wreaked all the control gear. This was well planned, and if they are not caught it will happen again, they need to have covert monitoring to catch this person, because they will strike again, especially as they think they have got away with it this time.
There will be history, however proving it in a court of law may be very difficult, without covert evidence. Such a shame as no one wins in these sort of battles.,

I wonder if the canal centre at Loxwood has CCTV outside as it would see people coming and going.

If you walk past a CCTV camera with something covering your face, it makes it largely irrelevant.
