And whats happening with those who are still listed as site staff but for whatever reason no longer visit the forum?

Well yes, except for keeping on those mods who never visit the site let alone do any modding. Why the inertia?

Indeed.

The 'dormant' mods have allegedly been contacted but seemingly they remain?

Wierd.

And now @Jen-in-Wellies has been roped in.

Good decision IMHO.

Yes, though "roped in" is perhaps unkind. I know you're a [lain bloont Northerner, but even so...

I, for one, welcome our new Morlock overlord.

I'd never be tempted to do it again, although the userbase i looked after was teens to mid thirties mostly, and the internet was still young.

Arguments that got nasty occasionally lead to someone turning up at peoples houses to sort it out "like men" :( Thankfully these days it's a lot harder to track folk down.

Seconded, and also to Ade. They seem like two of the sanest people in this place.

Nevertheless, I'm sure they will both fit in well.

Now where's my mug with the "You don't have to be mad to work here, but it helps" slogan....

Out of interest why do @Jen-in-Wellies and @1st ade 's status show as Member and Patron respectively rather than 'Moderator'?

Mmmm - good question. I would say "User Groups" but I must be a Mod as I have access to the Mod toolbar (and I'm sane...) so there must be a more technical explanation.

You've also gained the 'sheild' on your avatar which the other mods. have.

What did the Spartans say? "Come home with your shield or on it"?

@RichM said they wouldn't get the mod badge until an official announcement was done.

Hasnt that moment sort of passed?

Or is it a bit like a Coronation which happens several months after somebody becomes the monarch?

Does anyone know what happened to CarlT?

He got very poorly.

My heart op was supposed to happen on Lockdown day but was delayed because of Covid and was told not to get stressed, excited or over-exert myself at all so the internet was a definite no-no.

When the rest of the family got Covid I had to go and hide on the boat for a couple of months as I am classed as "vulnerable" (It was awful)

I had the op the day after lockdown was lifted and they stopped pretending that Cardio-Thoracic surgery was "elective".

Six months later the op failed and I was back to square one but with no surgical solution available (they don't want to bugger up what's still working).

I've been told I could I could drop dead tomorrow or plod on for another 20 years...Halfway between the two will do me.

Genuinely very sorry to hear of your trials and tribulations Carl - never met you but you were always a voice of reason and good humour on the forum. Go well: to quote a famous saying dream like you'll live forever, live like today is your last. None of us knows the days we have left
