Yes, CRT priced a replacement bridge at more than double the amount of the legacy.  Following discussions with Peter's executor, there is a new plan to spend the money on local improvements in Braunston which should benefit towpath walkers.

Richard Parry mentioned it in a reply to a question at last weekends HNBC AGM, am pretty sure that he said that the project was not going ahead and that discussions were being held wit the donor's estate as to where else the money could be spent

How sad, perhaps CRT should search for another bequest. Many charities are relentless with their persuit of these.
 

My friends Dad received monthly bequeath requests from the University he went to once he reached 80, they proved to be good firelighters and he lived till his 90s, the University were not a beneficiary 🤣
