I had a similar real-life experience of this at a branch of Screwfix, following their recent abolition of their paper catalogue in favour of web-based touch screens.  The computer couldn't find the product I knew they stocked when I tried, neither could the assistant when she tried. Back home, I entered the product code from my copy of their last paper catalogue into their click & collect web page. It showed that they had several of the items in stock at the branch I had visited. Too late, I had found some elsewhere. Thank goodness Toolstation still has its paper catalogue.
