In 1988 the folk and pop group Fairground Attraction had a song called Perfect. They produced a video where the band went along the Regents Canal on a narrow boat with Metropolitan on the side. On Saturday, a DJ at the Station, Stechford showed this video. Is it known what the narrowboat was ?

Most likely John and Sue Yates' then boat Barnham, which was painted in the livery of 'Metropolitan and Midland'. Their current boat, Buckden, carries the same livery.

You can see the name Barnham clearly at 2.23 in the video.

And I'm pretty sure that is John Yates steering in the closing shot in Limehouse Basin.

All that 'rain', yet none falling on the cut. And Sunshine in the final seconds. Not to mention the drummer using 'brushes' and symbol in the wet, not a single beat from the engine in the tunnel, but full on singing.

Clever bit of editing. Bet the filming took all day.

On the few occasions my wife was being filmed for one of Rolf Harris's Animal Hospital programs, it took half a day of repeated filming to get what appeared on screen for six seconds.

When they used our boat for a film they hired it for 3 days. Total time in the film about 30 secs and about 20 secs on the credits.

But as they say working with animals never good. Putting sheep on straw bales in an open hold caused many retakes.
