One of the biggest fears of drivers going electric is “range anxiety”, or the worry of being stranded in your new car in the middle of nowhere without charge.

Such concerns, however, do not bother Harry Besley, 16, who is hoping to achieve the fastest circumnavigation of the UK in an electric boat. The distance is approximately 1,500 nautical miles.

“I’m now confident that by the summer we will have the boat and charging facilities for this challenge to be a reality,” Besley said. “I believe that we cause too much damage to the world,” he said, adding: “And I want to change that”.

He will be assisted by 40 charging points around the country.
