Theres a lot of spare bricks there if anybody needs a few. They look fairly modern, not victorian, but also look to have no mortatr attached which is interesting.

Perhaps you sahould have removed that blue obstruction 😀 those interlocking plastic floating boxes cost £50 each.

which way you headed you gone off on the W+E?

I put myself in the top lock at Wolverhampton before I noticed the bottom gates chained 😳 this morning. Teach me to pay attention to the stoppages.

Hey Ho gives me a bit of time to explore the BCN

We are home but we went W&E then Perry Barr, B&F back to Alvecote

I saw the stoppage notice which said locks 1-5 I hope they have locked 21, I would hate to get to 5 and then 16 backwards.

I was heading for the Anchor

I might go down Stourbridge Locks, only done them once before and would like another trip down them, there’s a pub on the flight I want to visit.
And then up the Staff and Worcester.

But 🤷‍♀️

There was a stoppage at one of the locks near Stourton Junction, a broken gate. Lock 13 Stewponey, Staffordshire & Worcester Canal | Canal & River Trust (canalrivertrust.org.uk)  Wolverley Lock | Canal & River Trust (canalrivertrust.org.uk)

That's below the junction, so not a problem for bypassing the main line stoppage. BCN -> Stourbridge -> turn right at Stourton -> Aldersley Junction or the reverse.

Needed anyway as the 21 is closed for lock repairs for most of the next couple of months.

Last time I went down there I had no problems at all, now the bit between Walsall basin and Ocker Hill is something else, I hate that bit.

I've often thought it might be quicker to bow haul between Ocker Hill and Walsall basin.  Last year going through there even a couple of locals asked what we were doing trying to boat along there.

Latest edition of Boundary Post says it may be getting dredged this year.

I'm probably wrong there. Just gone back through the magazine and can't find it now.

That’s a bit of a shocker, I thought they were gonna be done by early February.

Current stoppage dates are 3rd-24th January, then 13th February to 17th March.

So "early February" should be okay.

mind, they’re  clearing away the walls after the fire by Horesley junction, and dredging up the canal of bricks.
If they’re late on that it’ll hold things up.

Bradley Workshops closed for repair, what does that mean? It is built on the site of the Wilkinson Ironworks, so is there mining subsidence? With only two places to repair and replace lock gates on CRT should there be other options? How and where do the Environment Agency and Scottish Canals repair their lock gates?

The roof was in a very poor state when I went on a tour in May, they were planning to have it repaired or replaced ASAP.

There was also mention of installing a larger CNC machine (also requiring reinforcements to the floor slab) to replace the current aged equipment and reduce manual work, but that seemed a more long-term scheme.

There were a few gates made at Icknield Port last year, I'm not sure whether they built the whole gate there or just some assembly work.

Does anyone know if the Wolverhampton flight is currently open? The wording suggests there is no work going on over this weekend, but it is not clear if it was to be opened between these dates...
