Work is currently being carried out to unveil the Dock Feeder Canal on Churchill Way

The most recent pictures as work takes place on Cardiff’s Dock Feeder Canal have been revealed. Work is underway to open up the canal to create a “Canal Quarter” in the capital and, most recently, part of the canal was exposed for the first time in several decades as part of the work.

The canal has been paved over for over seven decades but now, with redevelopment work underway, it is set to form the heart of a huge rejuvenation of the city centre. The ambitious project, which will see the canal opened up and turned into a public space with outdoor seating and an amphitheatre-style performance area, started in early February.

The plans will effectively turn the east of the city centre into a new district in a project similar to the renovation of Central Square. The project would see the interlinking of Bridge Street, David Street, Charles Street, Tredegar Street, Guildford Crescent and Barrack Lane to develop a "high-density, mixed-use development, attracting homes, hotels, hospitality, high-quality offices, leisure and retail units," according to Cardiff Council.
