Hudds Lad
As we’re at the marina and not going out, my better half has started to go through every nook and cranny on the boat and keeps waving things in my face and enquiring what they are for. With these i have drawn a blank. Somebody has obviously spent a bit of time splicing the eyes etc. so must be for something. Anyone got an idea? Alan de Enfield
They are called 'soft shackles' and are used to replace steel D-shackles (saves damaging the paintwork) Edit to add chandlery link : Liros XTR Soft Shackle (marinesuperstore.com) Edited September 18, 2022 by Alan de Enfield

Rob-M
I attach my centre lines with soft shackles so the paint doesn't get damaged.
Scholar Gypsy
There are some nice youtube videos on how to make them, and how to use them correctly. I bought some at Tradline in Braunston last month.

Looked quite simple when someone who knows what they are doing is making them

She is a rescue dog, we got her when she was two. We kept the name the previous owner had given her. Edited September 20, 2022 by Ray T
Peanut
Used on sailing boats to attach sheets to sails. When the sail gets flying around, you only get hit by a soft shackle, not an ugly lump of steel. Much kinder to the canvas and the brightwork.
