Hi All
Ivor Caplan, a member and former secretary of the BCN Society has several Canal Acts for sale. There are 12 altogether from various parts of the system. They may be of interest to individuals or local canal societies. Pass the word around as they are not just intended for BCNS members. The BCN Society has a variety of Canal Acts relevant to the BCN. These on offer cover many places including Staffs & Worcester, Oxford, Trent & Mersey, Grand Junction Canal, Worsley Brook, Saltisford to Digbeth Branch, River Severn to Droitwich & Stourbridge. All proceeds will be  divided equally between the Lapal and Bradley Canal Restorations.

Brief Description of Various Navigation Company Acts etc. for sale by auction,      generally in fair condition some lose covers, except when otherwise noted.

Highest bidder will be notified and arrangement made for delivery early in September

All proceeds from the sale will be divided equally between the Lapal and Bradley Canal Restorations.

 

 

1.     An ACT for making a Navigable Canal from the Oxford Canal Navigation at Braunston to join the River Thames near Brentford.  An ACT for making certain Navigable Cuts from the Towns of Buckingham, Aylesbury and Wendover...Making a Navigable Cut from the Grand Junction Canal....to Paddington and other related Acts to complete the same.   Bound in one edition, front cover detached. Front piece hand coloured map of the Grand Union Canal.

 

2.     An Act for making and maintaining a Navigable Canal from a Place called The Saltisford....and to terminate in or near the Parish of Birmingham called the Digbeth Branch of the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal. Bound- Warwick and Birmingham Canal Acts.

 

3.     An ACT for making and maintaining a navigable cut from the River Severn at or near a place called Hawford...to or near a place called Chapel Bridge within the Borough of Droitwich. Bound, hard back good condition.

 

4.     An ACT for making and maintaining a Navigable Canal from or near the Town of Stourbridge to join the Staffordshire & Worcestershire canal at or near Stourton, (plus Fens branch etc) Hard bound, reasonable condition.

 

5.     An ACT for making and maintaining a navigable Canal from or near the Town of Stourbridge to join the Staffordshire & Worcestershire canal at or near Stourton, (plus Fens branch etc) Hard bound, reasonable condition

 

6.     An ACT for making and maintaining a Navigable Canal out of and from the Warwick and Birmingham Canal…. in the Parish of Budbrooke, in the County of Warwick, into the Oxford Canal, in the Parish of Braunston in the County of Northampton

 

7.     An ACT for making navigable the River or Brook, called Worsley Brook, from Worsley Mill in the Township of Worsley, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, to the River Irwell in the said County.

 

8.     An ACT to consolidate and extend the Powers and Provisions of the several Acts related to the Oxford Navigation

 

9.     An ACT for making and maintaining a navigable canal from the Grand Junction Canal in the Parish of Paddington to the River Thames in the Parish of Limehouse with a Collateral Cut in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Shoreditch, in the County of Middlesex.

 

10. An ACT to consolidate the Power and Provisions of the several Acts related to the Navigation from the Trent to the Mersey.  

 

11. Large volume with Acts related to Oxford Canal/ Navigable Cuts from Buckingham, Aylesbury, Wendover to communicate with the Grand Junction Navigation/ variation to the Grand Junction Canal/ raising a further sum of money for the Grand Junction Canal/ Articles of agreement between the Company and Proprietors of the Grand Junction Canal for supplying water/ various Acts enlarging the Powers for the Grand Junction Canal.  Binding in poor condition.

 

12. House of Lords Appeal between the Proprietors of Staffs & Worcs Canal Navigation and The Company of Proprietors of the Birmingham Canal Navigations. (disagreement regarding the Wolverhampton ‘21’ near Autherley)  Appellant and Respondents cases. Bound, lose front cover.
