What was this ‘Iconic’ pub?

Featured Posts

Not quite a Canalside pub 😂

But I thought I’d have a look around to see what’s changed.

Clue:

Birmingham

And I’m sure Virgin Records was a few doors down.

Understand: I mean it was an Iconic pub before becoming the Peaky Blinders. It may have had some other name changes too 🤷‍♀️

Shit,
Eventually we will only get a pint in the Black Country Living Museum.
Why they (BCLM) haven’t already bought  up all the boozers…?

Ok.. so when I say Iconic..perhaps I should have said….infamous?

There are quite a few drinking establishments still open and also the Metro is now running to Edgbaston Village

Still, rail strikes permitting, there is also the train to get away from the hot spots of the Games !

Yes. Is it a new creation or has it been dismantled, transported to its new site and re-erected, like for example the buildings at the Weald & Downland Museum?

The original was demolished in 2001 so this one is a recreation.

The new Pub looks great will have to try and get up there.

Whilst on the subject of Wolverhampton pubs what was the name of the pub at the top of the Wolverhampton flight? I think it was connected with the Springfield brewery which was about half way down the flight, I remember having an excellent pint of bitter in there.

They are very coy about the origins of the new building. Was at least the faience ground floor facade of the original building saved during the demolition and stored for 20 years? Or has it been entirely recreated?  I would have thought either would be worth publicising, particularly the latter as an illustration of a revival of largely lost craft skills.
