Winding near Dimmingsdale Lock on Staffs&Worcs

Anyone know if it's possible to wind a 60' boat just below bridge 53? Map shows a short side arm here. Need to know because otherwise have to go down through Bratch Locks to turn, may not have enough time to do this so will have to turn at Wightwick...

The side arm is a private mooring wharf. The designated winding hole is below Dimmingsdale lock.

We turned there, with the added bonus of talking to a nice bloke from Compton who suggested we visit the beer and wine shop there -- which turned out to be an absolute Aladdin's cave, strongly recommend if you like good beer/wine/spirits, fantastic selection and decent prices...

Lots of people do despite the notice. The real objection is the damage inconsiderate boaters do when they ram the bows into the bank of the arm and destroy the sheeting, causing unnecessary expense and work.

I didn't see any notice, but by the time we realised we could have turned there we were past the point at which it would have been easy to do.

Glad we didn't though, and I'm sure The Wine Seller Compton was glad too -- we went back after dropping the boat off on Saturday morning and filled the remaining space in the boot, including a titanic (geddit?) 3l bottle of Grand Reserve Port Infused Plum Porter... 😉
