The guy( who ran the chippy with his wife) died suddenly back in April.Perhaps the family don't feel up to re-opening yet.

Sad to hear, we have enjoyed the fish & chips many times.

Why not the Bridge Inn? Generally better than the Fly (depending on who is the Fly’s owner of the moment).

I’m another for the Bridge.
A Marstons pub, not great but you know what you’re getting.
More likely to get in conversation with some other boaters too. It’s more of a pub, compared to the other two and used by the locals.

I’ve just seen the newspaper articles. That’s very sad. We shared some banter when we visited. Was one of my favourite chippys nationwide. My condolences to his wife & family.

We ventured into the Bridgewater Hotel, Worsley,  on Tuesday evening, now a Marston pub. Very good it was aswell. Last time we went in there we turned around and went back on board.

I find this too. The turnover in pub landlords now seems so fast that one cannot rely on the last time you went in as a guide to what <whichever pub it is> will be like this time around...
