Yet another stoppage notice which means the only option to go south from Yorkshire is the North Sea. We'll done C&RT in line for the most inept organisation known to man.

Stops the southerners getting to you.

You could always visit Dewsbury.

Very nice at this time of year,

I have been told.  But I don't believe it! 😞

You should have come down south when you had the chance!

You know you want to....

For narrow beam craft the Rochdale is currently closed due to a fallen tree, which will be sorted in a day or two, and water shortage on the summit, also expected to be sorted in a couple of days. Neither of those can be blamed on CRT, and will be sorted soon. So no, the Rochdale is not closed in any way that will prevent you from using it unless you are already here.

Nope as luck has it. But had I turned left instead of right and onto Huddersfield I would have been just about there I reckon. So counting my blessings and to top it all have had a blinding run up/down Huddersfield so far 🙂

The Rochdale Summit went down quickly yesterday, (or was it the day before?), almost certainly boater related so can't really blame CRT.

As for the claim that CRT are incompetent well, they do have some very bad days and today was one on them.

The guilotine lock refused to release my BWB key so we phoned for help...

"we are at the SalterHebble Guilotine lock"

CRT  "I don't know where that is"

"its on the Calder and Hebble Navigation"

CRT "I dont know what that is, can you give us what three words"

"yes  wait a moment, here they are"

CRT "so what do you want"

"somebody to get our key out of the control panel and give it back to us"

CRT "its too late, you should have reported this as soon as it happened"

"well yes, thats why we are phoning you right now, its just happened"

(this was mid afternoon)

(this is an edited version....it was even worse)

sorry about spelling errors, just got a new PC and not got the spillchucker going yet

Erm... why don't you have a boxful of them in the bote?! Then you could just leave it behind!

Yes, and yes I did.

(though we were on another boat as ours won't go through the silly little locks here)

The local swing bridge gives a load of trouble, some BW keys fit and many don't, we often have passing boats knocking on our door asking for help, my key worked every time and now its gone, maybe my next one will not be as good, will test it tomoro. 😀
