Trent and Mersey Canal (Main Line - Derwent Mouth to Burton) – Navigation closure notice: Trent & Mersey Canal, Navigation: Closed, Towpath: Open – Lock 6, Stenson Lock — from Wednesday the 2nd of March, 2022 until further notice.

Update on 04/03/2022:

Our operational team have been back on site all day and the lock is now operational again.

Boaters are asked to proceed with care when using the lock, as repair works are still required.

Our local team will be back on site next week to continue with the required works and we will keep updating the website.

Our operational team have been on site at Stenson Lock today, carrying out essential repairs to deal with the current issues we have been experiencing with the lock gates leaking water.

They were unable to complete the job today, and have been taken onto another urgent job elsewhere on the network tomorrow.

They will be back at Stenson Lock on Friday and aim to have it working again for the weekend.

Until these works are completed, the lock is now currently out of action.  We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience during this time.

Either Canalplan has missed something or there's an awful lot of boats being inconvenienced...
