Safe mooring Wigan area

Hi all, can anyone recommend a safe mooring or a good marina in the Wigan area please? I’m cruising from Liverpool to Anderton in June and I’m getting a train to Edinburgh from Wigan to attend a 40th Falklands remembrance  parade and ship reunion so I’d  like to leave the boat somewhere safe for about 4 days. I’ve already called Crooke marina and they don’t have space. Thanks

Most boaters moor in the pound near the dry dock usually without any problems. Appley Bridge and Parbold are also ok and both have a train station.

Never left the boat unattended overnight but have moored many times there and on the pontoon in the pound below with no problems.

I left my boat at Scarisbrick Marina (twice) for a week or so last summer when I visited Liverpool. Nice place, very helpful people and very secure.

Don't leave it between the flight and next road bridge below the flight - a friend left one there for one night, window smashed, interior turned upside down, gas and tools stolen and a lot of loose stuff with no resale value chucked in the canal.

A sign saying "No pies kept on this boat overnight" may help.
