Slating social media posters, but has 17.k post on a social media site.

Oh you have to 🤣

I agree in a way. Other than, with Twatter and kiddie book and all those, people actualy are findable by their real name in most cases. They have fotos of themselves and others and " Friends " who they havnt met :banghead:

Try to find me via Kiddie book, Twatter, instant crap etc etc and you will draw a blank.

I saw his boat on the canal with him in it a few months ago, so don't think he did.

I stand corrected then, but he did say this on the Victron website nearly two years ago;

“A year and a half later and I work full time for Victron Energy as a Video Executive Producer. I have stopped filming for the YouTube channel Journey with Jono and Molly and I no longer live afloat.”

source quoted from

I assumed he had sold up, must have just switched to leisure boating.

Yeah I was surprised to see him too. Maybe he doesn't enjoy being a 'celebrity' and wants to go off the radar, just speculation, who knows.

Pleased he's doing well, thanks for the link.... he's got a ***** load of solar on his boat in that pic I'm surprised it didn't roll over!

.... and now Jonny's selling..... liked his videos, especially maintenance ones....

Very much enjoyed Mr London's "Project Narrowboat" videos too. I was sorry to hear him mention health problems being part of why he has decided to sell up.

As he says, there is hope the channel can continue in some form. I'd be interested in hearing about his early days buying and fitting out his boat, as would many others, I'm sure.

I see CTC’s boat is now sold subject to survey.

These Vloggers boats sell quickly, I wonder if the buyers want that that little bit of recognition on th system. I see the couple who bought ‘Silver Fox’ already have a drone to Vlog🤣

"That little bit of recognition"???

I suspect the sheer volume of recognition that vloggers will be getting out on the cut is a major factor in their decisions to pack it in. Even as just MTB on here I get spotted and hailed/approached quite regularly when out on the cut, often by complete strangers. The level of attention attracted by being a successful vlogger must be unreal, probably completely spoiling the pleasure of just being out and about cruising and trying to mind one's own business.

I suspect anyone buying a vlogger's boat will quickly regret it for the constant attention it will draw.

Talking of internet bloggers does anyone know what happened to ‘Derwent 6’ Al & Del? They were old school so to speak in that they blogged rather than vloged!

I was chatting to them and they have had to stop cruising for a bit but still live aboard, so nothing to blog about. Sorry I cant say more but they are both well. I am sure they will be back on the cut as soon as they can.

Same here, every trip someone will chat to me, even had one leave his boat and give a hand on Braunston Locks so Diana could set ahead

The couple I feel for, are the buyers of “Silver Fox” a basic boat bought for £60K, if not more over price. If I ever pass them on the system I would just think “Mugs”
At least CTC’s boat was priced according to the current market through a Broker, but like all the Vloggers boats nothing special, no wow factor, that would only be for their dedicated followers.

I wonder with the “Silver Fox” couple how they will handle it? They will be recognised with having “The most famous boat on the Canal” is that what they wanted when buying a basic boat for £60K+ over market value.

Will it be repainted/re-named or sold within a year?

When you say its a basic boat, what does that mean?

In car terms, it is what say, a Ford Escort 1.3L is in the world of cars.

Not a Rolls Royce or a Merc, but not a Trabant either.

Off the shelf boat, a bread and butter boat. A few builders build stock boats that would appeal to people with a set budget, you get nothing special just a boat that does what it says, just like buying the Ford L model and not the Ghia model. This is what “Silver Fox” looks like with standard Oak worktops, basic hob and just nothing wow, compared to customer bespoke boats of the same age. Nothing wrong with that, as they fit people’s budget and gets people on the water and if they don’t like being on the canals they don’t loose a great deal of money when they sell.

That’s great news about Al & Del, I’ve been following their adventures since they bought Derwent 6 and they suddenly stopped their blog!

Wow! How much did they actually sell it for?

David never struck me as someone with more than a passing interest in canals and boating. He's done a competent job of demonstrating canal boat life in my view but boating is not in his blood and in his bones. I'm not surprised he's knocking it on the head.

He has said he will be selling his boat and buying a house but he does make it clear in his video on the matter that he will be continuing his CTC Youtube channel and making videos about canals and canal life.

It is certainly true that one does not have to live on a boat to have an interest in Canals.

No-one apart from the buyer and seller will ever know I imagine and it’s their business.

It was up for private sale £140K,  I think they will have a shock if they don’t like the “Youtube” canal life and sell it within a year, as to how much it may of de-valued.

All boats sell quite quickly these days.  It is a very buoyant market.

Rugby boats often produce videos on boats they have and before they get chance to upload them they have sold.

You are correct there is nothing particularly special or different about the fact vloggers boats sell quickly.

CTC's boat is actually quite a tidy boat too, so no real wonder it sold quickly.

Any boat thats decent liveable on run of the mill and priced at £45-£60k seems to sell rapidly. CTCs falls into that

As others mention CTC in fairness could have done a silver fox but did the decent thing, selling back via the broker he bought from for a fair price.

CTC never bigged the name of his boat up either which is a bonus for the new owners. Silver foxes new owners wont have an easy time I fear!
