Hello there!!

Can you travel from Lancashire to Heartfordshire on a wide beam boat?  Not sure if the whole way is wide enough in regards to locks.

thanks

No reason not to do it with a lorry. (The locks are only 7ft wide at the chicane.)

Prolly cost you about £2k, including the crane lifts at each end.

Probably more like £4K these days. I had my widebeam lifted out, transported by road and put back in 6 years ago and that was more than £3K in total. That was the absolute cheapest price I could get from a transport broker. I had other quotes of over £5K direct including one from Tuckeys.

This assumes you have to hire a 100T crane at either end as most boatyard cranes won't be able to lift more than about 20 tonnes.
