Hotspot

Okay simple question (for some ) I use my phone as a hotspot, to make the signal better I put my phone in a plastic container on the roof. I've a omniex can I use this to bring the signal into the boat? And still use the phone as a hotspot.

When you use your phone it is doing two jobs.

 

Its recieving the internet and then broadcasting it as wi fi signal.

 

There isnt normally a method of connecting a modern smart phone to anything else as part of the system.

I presume an Omniex is an omni directional TV aerial? If so it won't help.

Do some phones allow for  a hotspot connection via usb, that could improve your connection.

Most will let you to 'tether' via the USB but obviously only the device directly connected can access the Internet. A long USB lead could be useful.
