River Soar. Ratcliffe lock and A453 bridge.

CRT website seems to suggest Ratcliffe lock is still difficult. Anyone been through recently? Interested to know how you found it. 

Also, thought I'd seen a notice about work on the A453 causing the navigation to be shut at times but can't find any details on the CRT stoppages. Anyone know anything about it?

No issues with ratcliffe lock that we could see. We had probably the smoothest trip up the soar and through Leicester ever. No. Of functioning paddles is variable though.

Even the biggest grounding we had was under the A5 below Watford a 20 minute job.

 normally we find everything available in Leicester to get stuck on. ( cars, safes, sheep, bodies, usual stuff.)

Won't go on Soar for now, if levels come up might have to wait for stoppage. Another time!

Yes. We came through with some haste.

Burton on trent, to bottom of foxton in 3 days, and a good eye out on the weather.

That's going some. Takes us a day to get through Leicester.

IIRC it was the top gate that was an issue when I came through a month ago (lock was so leaky that the boat coming the other way needed me on one gate and two of them on the other to force it open because the levels wouldn't equalise).

 

I guess if they hadn't turned up when I was about to come though, I could have tried digging out the old lock

Not surprised drove up to Nottingham yesterday. Between Leicester and Nottingham we would have been better off on boat.
