Where to stay between Wolverley and The BCM via Wolverhampton (2 nights).

So after a 2 year delay due to Covid, we are finally hoping to do the Stourport Ring next summer (July 1-11). We are going clockwise out of Alvechurch and plan to spend our 5th night in Wolverley. We have decided that we want to travel via Wolverhampton, so we are looking for recommendations of where to moor for the evenings (6th and 7th nights) before the Black Country Museum on the 8th. Close to a pub or eating establishment of any kind would be an asset. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We usually stay at Greensforge, then Compton. Then go from there to the Black Country museum.

2019 we moored between Wightwick and Compton, at the top of the flight, and walked down to The Mermaid where we had a very pleasant dinner.

 

If you get a bit beyond Wolverley, try the Anchor Inn at Caunsall - the cobs are brilliant.

I has, or at least had when I was there last, an off license with the most amazing selection of bottled ales!

If you reach the top of the Wolverhampton flight the old FMC basin makes a good overnight stop.  Shops like Aldi nearby and town centre is a walk away.
