Firstly, Not in a boat, on our motorhome : it has a euro 4 sprinter engine, not even 60k miles in 20 years, but smokes a little bit. Are there any effective fuel additives that actually clean up the exhaust, without destroying the engine, or am I going to have to take the injectors out and visit the local diesel specialist?

Secondly, it has an annoying little gas fault: the hob has three burners, and when using just one, all is fine, but often if a second burner is required, at that point the gas cuts off. There must be a sticking valve somewhere in the system, but where?

Does anyone have any ideas for either question?

Know Sprinter engine behaviour, needs thrashing. It will fail its MOT next time.

Gas fault is either a duff regulator, a kinked pipe/hose or water/condensation/fluid in the gas pipes. Does it do the same with the oven on?

Thanks, the motorhome will get a thrashing on the way to the coast, next Monday.

I think it does the same with the oven, I will check that though.
