They are good if expensive. They also use the same again or more electrical power as a fridge, so you need reasonably good battery and power generating capability. They have a fitting to enable installation eg under dinettes etc, but just like a fridge or more so, good ventilation is needed. The heat from inside the fridge and from the electrical power has to go somewhere!

Thanks for replies.
It does seem very small though.
Dignity, would you be able to give me the internal dimensions please?

It’s possible I might sell hard scoop ice cream. (Proper stuff not the shyte from the supermarket). Just small scale.

or at least fill it full of Cornish pasties.

But don't forget the Traders Licence, extra Insurance,  the Food Hygiene Certificate etc etc!

Yes all being considered.
Normally I’d operate a trader’s license + pay the extra insurance.
The hygiene aspect would be new to me but easy enough to cover.

I’m just weighing up pros and cons at minute to decide if it’s viable for the short periods I’d want to do it.

(The pasties would be for my own consumption when not storing ice cream.)

Would a domestic freezer be ok for flogging foodstuffs to the public?

I'd have thought you'd need something designed and certificated for the job, with temp display, temp alarms, stuff like that.

Curious about making proper ice cream though. Whenever I've goggled recipes, they all seem like a DIY compromise. How do you make it? What would make yours 'proper ice cream' as opposed to noddy ice cream?

I see they are 2 star freezers, will they be adequate for you to store and sell ice cream, they are only -12, ice cream should be -18

There’s a few good ice cream companies that’ll deliver.
It’s be nice to sell something decent and not flog the Asda own brand.

It just happens today is my first day in the van selling hard scoop after serving soft ice cream for a year 🍦

 I’m at King’s Straith, York.

I thought there is an ice cream boat in york? One with a big cow on top! Big black and white one selling high quality ice cream last time I was there last month

Yea, seen photos of that too. I wonder if he’s still going?

Dunno if I’d get through tunnels though if I put a big plastic ice cream cone on the front of me boat

Yep both boats are trading or were the other week when I was in York.

Ice cream trade is seasonal though and this is the end of the season so maybe no more ice cream in a week or two?
