Will be interesting to see if this is the original film then on vhs or one of the re edited ones where many of the stills & clips of the true working boatmen that where sent from Bulls Bridge junction to stk braune for a days filming  have been cut out = picture  clip in  original= Dad & Grandad  in vhs film

I watched the film this morning, although I had previously seen it years ago. A simple film, but heartwarming. Can anyone tell me the real names of the boats portrayed in the film, please?    I am aware of the story of Sunny Valley/ Northolt, but I'd be interested to know about the others.

According to the information I have motor 162 is actually PURTON.

I think GOLDEN BOY was two boats, the motorised SUNNY VALLEY as well as GOLDEN BOY but was in reality was Henry Grantham's FORGET ME NOT. At the time of filming she was called SARAH owned by Barlow's.

Notice the longer counter borne out by this still from the film, lower picture.

A boating friend has just been in touch and confirmed the above.

He has also added

"The butty BLACKBIRD was Henry Grantham's SARAH JANE renamed by Barlow's as JANE. Henry Grantham sold these boats to Barlow's on 31 October 1940."

I only got round to vieving the film (recorded on Humax) yesterday, and your Father and Grandfather were definitely there in the middle of the film, along with stills of several other Boat People.
