If there is it can reach a super dry state over time and then self combust via pyrolysis even if it's not even being scortched in normal use. 

If you look at pictures of stoves in narrowboats, there is always lots of wood nearby. How close is too close?

Without an effective protection panel at least 800mm gaps.

With an effective protection panel at least 80mm plus the tiles (that is 10mm air gap, 25mm calcium silicate board and 45mm air gap)
