New capacitors fitted and Genny fully functional. ️Yippee!👍

So why does am expensive, state of the art marine diesel generator have faulty capacitors? I've used comparatively cheap Honda petrol suitcase generators for decades and never had that sort of fault.

So many examples on here of Mastervolt, Victron, etc, going wrong. For what you pay for their kit it doesn't seem particularly reliable.

I haven’t got a manual.

I’ve got new capacitors so……do they need to be “flashed” before installing?

I googled "Mastervolt Whisper 6000 manual" and found it in about 0.3 seconds.

It probably tells you about whether to charge them after fitting, but Tracy says we mustn't look in the manual.

You started it if you look back, by contradicting my perfectly reasonable advice to check what the manual says.

Actually having just checked back myself, it wasn't you so I unreservedly apologise.

(It was CompairHolman.)

I think  I'm with blackrose I wouldnt expect a so called quality generator to be using capacitor regulation and I would expect them to be at least good quality and not a service item....

But pleased that jenevers was able to get them and sort out the genny

With this type of generator the capacitors should be consider as a service item and change regularly.

Indeed,  which is why I have a  spare for for my Pagura 4000 and suggested a capacitor issue.

Using capacitor regulation doesn't make it lower quality, it may well be that way on purpose to make it more reliable.
