Suddenly there is no power coming from my Mastervolt Whisper 6000. Starts OK. Any idea as to likely cause?

If the installation is installed to current regulations.

Each systems which can generate AC power should have a doubled poled breaker before supplying the distribution board.

I would suggest that this breaker for what every reason has been operated.

Without a multimeter and diagnosing your fault you're just peeing in the wind.

Could be anything from a bad connection to the socket, loose wiring, circuit breaker, capacitor, loss of residual magnetism. ( Bad capacitors will usually be " blown" ie bulging out of the outer case. )

I’ll check the capacitors, the socket and wiring. Shouldn’t be loss of residual magnetism because it’s been in regular use.

`So you don't think much of my suggestion to read the manual then?

Manuals usually have a "Things to check when it doesn't work" section.

It's a simple capacitor regulated generator, the manual won't tell you more than is common to all such generators.

Ah ok. Best not to look in the manual then. Definitely not. NEVER look in the manual with capacitor-regulated gennies. I've definitely learned something today, thanks.

MtB is back, on form as normal. Sarky devil but reading is easier than guessing every time. But please go ahead changing bits till you find out that the breaker is tripped.

I haven’t got a manual.

I’ve got new capacitors so……do they need to be “flashed” before installing?

New capacitors fitted and Genny fully functional. ️Yippee!👍

Seems MtB gave good advice!

When my engine goes "phut" next,I definately won't look at the handbook but fit new capacitors to fix it. 😃😄
