Gloucester Docks in 2021

There has been a considerable transformation at Gloucester Dock including the Gloucester Quays shopping centre. For any who walk around the warehouses have been transformed for other purposes, but their facade remain intact. The sailing ships that still come to the docks for repair and maintenance by T Neilson & Co is a reminder of the times such craft traded here.

But with CRT there seems to have been a heritage stagnation.  Time and time again there have been comments about the CRT's lack of concern for heritage, unless perhaps the potential for making money..

The basin beside the Llanthony Warehouse used to have a selection heritage craft. These have now gone as have the railway wagons on the siding. It is nice to see the replica Gloucester & Cheltenham Railway plateway wagons,  but has hardly made up for the loss. The Museum in the docks is supposed to tell people about the heritage of the waterways, but the removal of exhibits is a sad loss to this site.

But then what do the staff working in their ivory towers, care?
