Someone on here surely can explain why CART have decided to spend a fortune on design, installation and staffing of a bespoke show garden at Hampton Court Flower Show when for just one example: at Hillmorton the Elsan point is still closed after 3 weeks as is the broken lock paddle gear on one of the bottom locks?

They say the garden theme is removing plastic bottles from the canal but I would not have thought your average Flower Show visitor is the type of target audience who chuck their plastic in the cut.  Some time ago, I helped to staff a special garden at this show for a well supported national charity.  It cost a fortune and raised no money and little awareness other than with those who were already aware of it.

Without knowing how it has been funded it is difficult to know whether it is a waste of funds or not. A lot of what CRT do is funded from money outside of the maintenance budget so it doesn't necessarily mean they could use the money to repair an elsan or paddle instead.

Hampton court is a very very high profile event and as CRTs aim is to expand its public awareness it's probably a good thing for them to do from a publicly point of view at least.

Maybe by then they will have a large source of compost.

No they  have stopped taking compost toilet waste

Have they ?

Or, have they just said "please don't dump your crap in our bins"

Big difference.

I think there is a thread about it on  here somewhere

If they raise money they get a bonus

If they spend more trying to raise money than they raise, they still get a bonus.

Next year's C&RT's bespoke garden should be themed around Elsans...

It would just be some bloody good tomatoes then?

Or the lack of them.

Hillmorton Elsan still closed.

Maybe this practice has something to do with it

"Our marina not allowing composting toilet waste to be put in rubbish bin, we leave the fan on 24 hours and only using a small amount of sawdust this allows us to put in with normal toilet waste, but it would be much easier to throw bag in rubbish as people do with nappy waste and dog poo bags which smell nasty, seems our composting toilet is not meeting our expected goals no fault of its own."

Banbury Elsan has been suffering poor maintenance since January. It is said defective pipe work. I think and believe just not being cleared properly.

No fault of anybody other than the owner and scribe of above winge.

A composting toilet is supposed to make compost, not be dumped in bins or chucked down Elsans.

Perhaps a thread is needed.

Out of interest what were your expected goals?   I would have thought the goal of the owner of a composting toilet was lots of lovely compost for the garden/allotment.

Do you still get excited and try and stay awake to catch Father Christmas, or, trying to see the tooth-fairy bringing your silver 3d ?

I was just wondering what other delusions you may have.

The bit about a marina not allowing composting toilets was a quote from Facebook, not a direct statement by ditchcrawler.
