It has been said that the original JASON was the first trip boat on the canals working from Little Venice to Camden along the Regents Canal when there was still extensive commercial traffic. In May 1971 the 21st anniversary was remembered for the John James operation and the craft JASON (motor) and SERPENS (butty). Although the JASON then had been formerly the FMC PORTUGAL, acquired in 1958 when the original was scrapped. So where did the original Jason come from.?

As far as I know, the original Jason of Jason’s trip was built by Nurser’s in 1924 for Charles Nelson & co., the cement manufacturer from Stockton, as Jason ll. On disposal of the Nelson fleet in 1935, Jason ll went to Samuel Barlow in Braunston, and entered the Barlow fleet as Jason
