Hi all we are going on the k&a this year and I was wondering if  Vodafone  mobiles get a signal ok as I have to keep in contact every day with my Dad

My Dad is going to be 101 years old in August

Its a long canal, Reading to Bristol, so a lot depends on where you are. There are, or were, a few weak signal spots. Its always a good idea to have two phones on different networks.

Good advice. We have access to two networks.

You should get a good signal at Newbury as that is where their HQ is!

When we first got the boat we moored on the river Kennet in Newbury for a couple of years. We got an early 3G (2G?) dongle from the Vodaphone shop in Newbury. They had NO Vodafone signal in the shop and had to go outside and walk a little way down the road to get the dongle to initially connect. ?

Like any canal, there will be spots with no signal. Presumably you need signal most in evenings when you have moored, so just check before tying up. Vodafone might have a map showing approximate signal coverage, three do and I find theirs fairly accurate and useful to plan moorings when I need particularly good signal for work etc
