Big lock bridge middlewich

We have just come through big lock and noticed that the old bridge is back in place BUT there are barriers stopping you using it ( the temporary bridge is still in use). The fact that the balance beams have recently been painted makes me wonder if there is an official opening in the offing

Didn't take a photo but as we are going to the pub tonight, I'll try to get a photo

Window dressing? Surely not! ?

Surely T. Towpath bottom gate still a right bggr. Looking at it with lock full, gate is lifted so that collar is taking no load at all. Either gate floats (pretty impossible as it would have to support the bit that’s out of the water, including the balance beam) or it rides up on silt or something else on the cill when it closes. Would add a photo if I had a means to reduce the size to acceptable dimensions!

The volunteer lockies have been painting the lock beams around Middlewich, totally unrelated to the bridge.

It's was craned in last Thursday so probably not finished / signed off.

Good to see it back in place and I look forward to using it again.

Yes, I didn't realise it was you as I was standing back as my dog is not sure of children and there was a father and wee girl bring given instruction on locking by your partner. We can say we almost met !
