Cheap bid, gas axe to the abomination on the front and fit a proper in-board engine could give someone a reasonablish boat.

Not quite so simple.

I recall the back end is transom shaped and like a tank under the surface.

So in order to fit an inboard engine with anything other than a Z Drive, a new counter with a swim would need constructing on it.

I must have missed the bit about the authorities seizing it.  I remember seeing it in the photo of the scene involving the sad death of the CRT representative. So for it to be craned out and taken away is either a coincidence or suggests implication?

Some of the CRT impounded boats end up at Greenwalls farm in Dodleston which is near Chester.  The hardstanding with several boats is visible on Google sat view.

Interesting about it being auctioned. Previously it was CBS who would sell the boats but putting them through an auction house might be a better option technically.

Maybe Tony Dunkely's efforts are having an effect.

from previous photo's aswell as completely lacking any form of swim at the rear it didn't sit very deep in the water at all, so on top of having to cut the front off and half of the back (to construct swims) you would end up having to use an egg whisk instead of a propeller or ballast it enough to drop it to a sensible depth to use a better prop at the cost of freeboard (if possible with skin fittings etc)
