When I bought the boat the engine mountings, drive plate and cutlass bearing were all replaced upon the advice of the surveyor.

I have the same engine, what size engine mounts were put on? i'm just about to replace mine.

were they the Vetus K100?

I agree they are reliable and the gear change clunks.

Issue have experienced and been told is common to vetus engines is the cast engine feet that go between the engine and the flexible mounting sometimes crack due to vibration. I have replaced two in 17 years. It's worth just checking them when you do any other checks.

We had that problem when we had a share boat. In our case, it appeared to be due to engine mounting bolts slackening off. If a lower nut became slack, the foot on the opposite side would crack. The later legs were bent steel bar, rather than cast alloy, and were a lot stronger.

I couldn't tell you what the part number is but here's a picture of the ones fitted to mine.  If you are aware of what they look like maybe you will work it out from that.  Thanks for the headsup regarding the feet. 👍

Fun anecdote... when I first moved my boat across country I was showing another boater my engine bay and he pointed out I had one engine mounting bolt sat on the baseplate and another one that had half worked itself loose.  I said... "Ah, that'll be the source of that rattle then...".  Suffice to say I regularly check all the engine mountings now!
