I somehow can't seem to remember his name now this morning but is that canal art from the same person who gave us that very silly series of graphic books about a tiny slow "teapot" of a single-centeraxle-drive steam locomotive in various landscapes?

Some of his Punch  railway cartoons featured the "Far Twittering & Oyster Creek" railway. When a version of it was built as a 15" gauge  miniature railway in  Battersea Park for the 1951 "Festival of Britain", its name  had to be changed to "Far Tottering & Oyster Creek" following a complaint from a then-influential media personality who lived in West Wittering.

More details :

Police tweeted: "For 15 years I've been trying to tick off a water-based pursuit in landlocked Leicester and today I've ticked it off.

Man arrested after 4mph chase of narrowboat along canal (aol.co.uk)

The low-speed pursuit took place after officers were called to a disturbance at a house in New Parks, Leicester where a 15-year-old boy was assaulted on 23 April.

The suspect was tracked down to his barge which was moored in the city on the Grand Union Canal but it was gone by the time police arrived.

After working out the direction he would have travelled, an officer on a bike followed the narrowboat while a colleague hid in the undergrowth ahead.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault and breaching a restraining order when he stepped off to negotiate a lock in Glen Parva.

We were grumbling the other about it being moored too close to the lock. Another boater commented that it was there “as a result of a police incident “. So now we know, sad story in the main but happy for the policeman’s bucket list.
