Is there a question pending? Over the date maybe?

The date is probably at least approximately correct, as it shows Lord's in its original location near what is now Marylebone Station.

Ah! Yes, I see it now. So The old map shows Paddington basin as was, but not the Regents where it now is.

The Workhouse is a good landmark. And Paddington was yet to get its Station or railway.

ISTR hearing that the present ground was constructed using spoil from the digging of Maida Hill Tunnel!

It would be over forty years before the G.W.R. reached Paddington, and a hundred years before the G.C.R. arrived at Marylebone". So the "Paddington Canal" runs through open fields, and to the right the Edgware Road strikes out towards rural Edgware.

According To Alan Faulkner's book 'The Regents Canal' the company had to buy Thomas Lord's cricket ground at a cost of £4,057!

...and when he left, he had all the turf dug up and took it with him to his new (and present) St. John's Wood location. I don't suppose the canal company had much use for it.

That's an interesting mess.

The circular road in the park became the Inner Circle with the horizontal road leading East becoming Chester Rd.; the 'Proposed' barracks were built in Albany Street (London Zoo was built roughly where the proposed barracks were); the 'Lords New Cricket Ground' was a tad further North; the 'New Road from Paddington to Islington became the Marylebone Road; the Circle through which the Marylebone Road passes was half completed, the Southern segment is Park Crescent, the Northern, Park Square with the road striking North to what is now Chester Road becoming 'The Broad Walk'.

Interesting though. Didn't know Primrose Hill was a volcano . . .
