Is it not the rubber seal down the edge of a single gate?

I don't know, but I would call that a seal, as you have.

A lining to me suggests that they have covered the inside of the gate with rubber, to stop it leaking.

Was leaking terribly a couple of weeks ago when i came through, isnt it the lock that blown the seal last year?

if no boats have come through you have to let water down through lock 8 to get out of lock 9.

We haven't been up the Atherstone locks so far this year, and didn't go up them last year. Sounds like their condition has deteriorated of late.

A pity, they always used to be well maintained and easy to use.

Had the same problem a few weeks ago. Struggled to get the gate open and then even more to shut it afterwards. Was the same one as got stuck at briefly last year and met Ditchcrawler who was on the opposite side.

Reported it to CRT but never heard anything back.
