Anderton lift and the Weaver

Featured Posts

With the distinct possibility that the Middlewich branch and the Llangollen will be closed when we had planned to use them we are looking for an alternative for our cruise from this Friday. Looking at the stoppages, it looks as if the Anderton lift is bookable - but for what days? It looks like Friday to Monday inclusive. But what about the locks? Saltersford looks as if it will be closed for a while yet but are the other three going to be open (and bookable) ? It says on the CRT site that an update will be given in April but I haven't seen anything.

Anyone know what the position is?

Apparently the lift broke yesterday afternoon, possibly the seals. So gonna be assessed this morning.Might mean bringing planned works forward. Or all might be ok later. Check first if heading that way.

There is now a planned stoppage due to the Casson seals failing. Think it starts a week today to allow people to get on/off river as needed and is going to last approx 10 days. An improvement on an instant stoppage if they can limp it along. It was hoped that would be ok until the big planned stoppage next year for a full overhaul but sadly not.

Why will the Llangollen and Middlewich be closed? Has there been a notice?

These seals are not reliable, get the SBS in instead?
