dixi188
I see that your hose should not be more than 7 meters long, this is due to back pressure causing water to be vented from the supply tap. I think mine is about 20 to 25 meters on a reel. Does this mean I'll have to get shorter one, and how will I reach the filler if I can't get the front end of my boat near the tap? Life is never simple, maybe you'll have to move your boat closer to the tap.

So do I I have always been concerned about hygiene of hoses shared and left outdoors after a marina neighbours dog found a hose reel left out on the pontoon to be a irresistible piss post. Not to mention people using hoses for things other than filling a fresh water tank and dropping the hose in the marina water Edited March 24, 2021 by MartynG
Grassman
Thanks for the replies and it makes sense now. Being a continuous cruiser it doesn't affect me, and when I use the canalside CRT taps I try to be as vigilant as possible regarding contamination, and particularly so since Covid. robtheplod
Just to tag onto this, are we out of the danger zone re freezing in boats or best wait a little longer? About to prep to cruise but not sure if i need to keep pipes empty for a while longer when left?
Alan de Enfield
I reckon you'll be fine. We are forecast to have a 'frost' on Friday, but it takes a few days at 'freezing' before it really affects your pipes and (never say never) we should be past that now. Go for it !
