Unless you can find a heated dry dock you don't want to be blacking before May.

 

If you do it now, you'll be doing it again in a months time as it falls off.

 

It is too cold and the temperature at dew point stops the blacking 'attaching' and curing properly

Aylesbury Canal Society have a heated covered slipway so you could get your boat done there, whatever the weather.
