Pollution Incident Peak Forest

Not a stoppage but Foxes Afloat are reporting a bad pollution incident at Furness Vale

A week ago oil and diesel pollution began entering the Peak Forest Canal at Furness Vale. We contacted EVERY DAY but after 5 days of inaction we took to Twitter in an attempt to get them to take it seriously. A week later the spill is WORSENING and there's NO sign of meaningful action.
Despite us and other witnesses giving the CRT information on the approximate location of the pollution, the only action taken has been the tiny white boom (see attached photo) which has been poorly placed and left almost half a mile downstream from the source of the problem.
This has led to the pollution contaminating boats and wildlife for well over a mile from Furness Vale past New Mills Marina and it's continuing to enter the canal and spread. The whole area smells of fuel/oil. Please do what you can by sharing this post to help us highlight this appalling inaction.

They might have been better reporting it to EA as well.

I reported a pollution incident to them on Battyeford cut awhile ago but basically were's interested said it was CaRT's problem. CaRT gave it their usual priority.

Yes that's always been my experience. Both CRT and EA say it's the other organisation's responsibility, repeatedly, until it goes away.
