Victron isolation transformer

Featured Posts

I am fitting one of these to my boat. I’ve been reading some old threads about Victrons unclear method of connecting to the hull re. Earthing. Does anyone know if this problem has been resolved and are the instructions in the manual ok to follow?

Thanks in advance.  Steve P

Still the same as far as I know.

Its been gone over recently

Faults can occour that will mean mcb/rcd may not trip.

There was discussion about it a few months ago that where I gave the whys and wherfores but I can't find the thread and my brain is frazzled at present so cant repeat it all.

I did find an excellent thread from 2008  about where electricty comes from ;)

Is that the thread with Chris W and Terry L going at it hammer and tong?

Very weird as I contributed in that more recent chat about IT's, certainly within the last 4-5 weeks and when I search there is nothing since last September which 'aint true. I think a whole bunch of content has vanished from this forum ?

Thank you for confirming I am not going mad, we went into discussion about the various faults that could arise and how they could be mitigated.

It may be that "Victron" wasn't in its title, so you didn't recognise it.

It wasn't.

It was called 'Galvanic transformer'

Another member linked to it on the 'censorship' thread.

Yes, our posts have crossed I think, but thanks for your help.

Just read some of the threads above. I've got the yellow cased airlink on the shore. Assumed it may get too hot if in the boat but read that you did this? Any issues in the height of summer? Thanks

Mine was inside a shed, down a bank and under some trees.

It was also in a metal case so when the soft start gave up I could replace it easily.

If you can get at the soft start (a disc like thing) then it should be OK if not in direct sun all day.

I replaced my soft start with something like this

it's been on the bank under partial shade for around 2 yrs with no issues so far. Yellow encased with soft-start built in by Airlink. Would have had to go in a cupboard on the boat so thought it may get too hot in the summer.

No, you can search on stuff you've posted in regardless of content and it simply isn't there. Content has been removed

From what people have said in the posts above, I don't think so. The topic is called "Galvanic Transformer". It is still there.

Something not right with the search engine perhaps? ?

....or with whoever's doing the searching, perhaps?

If a person with my level of computer skill can find it, anyone should be able to.

If you type the title of that thread, galvanic transformer, into the search box one would expect it to appear it does not.

The search has always been iffey

Yes, that's exactly what it does, on my computer. So one's expectations would be fulfilled.
