Isuzu 35 water temperature gauge sender thread size

The temperature gauge sender on my Isuzu 35 engine appears to have failed. Does anyone know the thread size of this sender so I can buy the correct replacement? Basic measurement tells me it is either 1/8 inch NPT or M10 but it is very hard to check it accurately enough in situ to work out which one. Thanks

Japanese engines are all metric so it's almost certainly M10. You can check the thread pitch visually by comparing it to a standard (coarse 1.5) M10 bolt. Chances are it's coarse.

 

Bought one of these a while ago, it's expensive but so, so useful! Saved a lot of time when working on engines with metric and imperial fasteners on the same block. (British Leyland I'm looking at you...)

You could probably make one for less with enough patience but I was lazy...

You are probably right. Unfortunately  M10 sender's are fine (1mm) pitch, which means it is almost the same as an 1/8 inch NPT (0.95mm). Diameters too are also very similar. I think I'll just pull it out and measure it properly. Thanks

Pull it out and see what bolt will screw in.

 

Though most likely metric, Japan uses some odd pitches.

Besides the thread size you need to get the resistance value (us or euro) which you can measure with a multimeter. (Probably not in your case if its cream crackered).

 

Generic ones are that cheap compared to genuine parts that you might as well take a punt. Based on the previous replies M10 looks worth a go.  

I know in the past I've used various adapters like 1/4 to 1/8 npt so probably some options there if all else fails

Thanks all for the input. After removing the old one today it appears to be M10 X 1mm pitch. A new one is now ordered.
