Electricity came to MIL in East Prawle (S Devon ) in 1940-41, courtesy of the Chain Home (low) station and associated RAF camp being  built there.  Mains water had arrived previously, to taps by the existing wells, but the supply was enlarged at about the same time as the electric arrived.  Village wide distribution of water, and mains sewage were post war developments, complete by 1953.

I fitted a pump that was too big and powerful for the system, it was a deck washdown pump and it was cheap. Its still there after 12 problem free years, the plumbing is hose, not garden hose but something from ASAP but there's still a lot of dodgy joints with jubilee clips everywhere.

Some of us are 'still in the days before fibre internet'

Almost 5 miles from the exchange and still on copper - at times we were as slow as 16Kb and can watch the pages building.

I cancelled the land-line and just 'hot-spot' off the mobile phone now, at least we get 3-5Mb speeds.
